Trails and Tales Weekend at The Getaway June 24th & 25th 

Munster Hillwalking  are teaming up with The Getaway Eco Camp - Dungarvan (www.thegetaway.ie ) to provide a weekend of guided hikes in the Comeragh Mountains on June Sat 24th and Sun 25th 2023.

Cost €20 per hike or €30 per couple, Pre book the hikes at munsterhillwalking@gmail.com

Proper walking boots, drinks and snack and backpack essential for both walks.

No hand luggage. All guided hikes are weather dependent and can be changed at any time.

Sat 24th - Hike 1 Cruachán. Starting point: 9am The Getaway. A 3-4 hour loop of Cruachán from The Getaway. A moderate hike on paths and open mountain. Keep an ear out for the cuckoo and an eye out for jays, squirrels, pipits, raptors and host of other wildlife. Magnificent views from the top stretch as far as counties Cork, Waterford, Tipperary.

Get together at 7:30pm in The Nook at The Getaway after the hike, for chats and a cuppa (or bring your own beer and snacks) Storytelling session in the evening at The Nook. Philip O’Byrne from Hunters Moon Theatre in Cork will host an evening of storytelling, prose and song in The Nook on Sat evening.

So if you have a story, a poem, a song or some prose, please bring it along and entertain each other: Light the candle, gather close, Shut the door against the weather, Pull in the chairs , stoke up the fire Once more we are together. Tell your story, song or verse, Laugh aloud or shed a tear, Relax yourself, you’re with good friends.

Sun 25th - Hike 2. 9am at Coumshingaun Lake. We have a choice of routes depending on people's ability and preference. Starting point either Kilclooney Wood or Mahon Falls. Transport to the starting point will be required.
