Imbolc at The Getaway
Free Community Gathering
Service Description
Celebrate Imbolc with good company, gentle rituals and time spent reconnecting with the land at The Getaway — a free, relaxed community gathering to welcome the turning of the season. Imbolc marks the early days of spring, a time traditionally associated with the return of light, new beginnings and the first quiet signs of growth after winter. It is a moment in the year to pause, notice what is beginning to stir, and gently shift our focus toward what lies ahead. This event is designed to be calm, inclusive and welcoming. There is no pressure to perform, participate fully or have any prior knowledge or experience. You are invited simply as you are. The afternoon will begin with an early spring foraging walk led by Lynn, exploring the hedgerows and land around The Getaway. Together, we will meet some of the first wild greens of the year, including nettles, cleavers and dandelion. Lynn will share practical guidance on identifying these plants, their traditional uses, and how they have long been part of seasonal living. This walk offers an opportunity to slow down, observe the landscape more closely and reconnect with the natural rhythms that shape the year. Following the walk, we will gather indoors for an Imbolc and Brigid celebration guided by Baya Salmon-Hawk. Through storytelling, creativity and shared tradition, we will honour Brigid — both goddess and saint — long associated with fire, water, creativity, protection and healing. This gathering will include the making of a Brat Bhríde (Brigid’s Cloak) and a simple, reflective ceremony to acknowledge the gradual shift from winter toward spring. The afternoon will move at an unhurried pace, allowing space to listen, reflect, create and engage in whatever way feels comfortable. You are welcome to take part fully, quietly observe, or step back as needed. What to bring • Warm, weather-appropriate clothing • Sturdy footwear suitable for outdoor walking • Curiosity and an open mind Good to know • This is a free community event • Suitable for ages 16+ • No experience required • The event will go ahead in most weather conditions We look forward to welcoming you to The Getaway for a meaningful, seasonal gathering as the year gently begins to turn toward spring.
